The name of this wine comes from the area of origin of its grapes, Contrada Fondiglie in Rosora, in the vineyards around an old farmhouse decorated by the drawings of the peasant family who lived there. The drawings include a bee, later used in the label, and a poem dedicated to it, which praises the happiness and freedom of rural life. On the nose, a compelling aromatic amalgam of stone-fruit, wild herbs, yeastiness, pungent blackberry and acacia blossoms, with light hints of broom. It is impressive for its length and intensity. Lean and dry, yet rounded and smooth, still delicate, with good support from the alcohol. Its crisp acidity and fresh fruit, complemented by the wine’s ageing on the lees, contribute substantially to the balance as well as its significant body and weight.
